The first edition of the International Summer School on Natural Products (ISSNP) will be held in Naples at the Stazione Zoologica "Anton Dohrn" on July 6-10, 2015. The Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn main building is located in the center of the Villa Comunale in Napoli, just a few steps from the sea shore, in the heart of the Bay.
The School on Natural Products is sponsored by the Division of Organic Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and organized under the direction of the Department of Pharmacy (University of Naples), the Stazione Zoologica "Anton Dohrn", and the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry (ICB-CNR).
Following the tradition of the Scuola delle Sostanze Naturali e di Chimica Biorganica “Luigi Minale”, founded in Naples in 2003, the first edition of the International Summer School on Natural Products (ISSNP) will be dedicated to Professor Luigi Minale and Professor Ernesto Fattorusso, pioneers of the chemistry of marine natural products and founders of the Neapolitan school of organic natural products chemists.
The main focus theme of the ISSNP will be on both established and emerging areas of research at the cutting-edge of organic chemistry inspired to natural products in their all aspects. Key topics that will be addressed include medicinal chemistry optimization, target oriented discovery, biosynthesis and biotechnological aspects, chemical ecology, nutraceutical, new analytical methods.
A session of the School will provide practical information to potential applicants in preparing and submitting an application for an ERC Starting Grant and Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Horizon 2020 experts and young researchers awarded by the European Research Council will give theoretical and practical lessons about this topic.
The School is mainly directed to graduate students, Ph.D. students and young researchers coming both from University and Industry. Registration deadline is May, 22, 2015; a number of fellowships will be available.
The scientific programme of ISSNP 2015 will consist of lessons delivered by acclaimed scientists from academia and industry, poster sessions, workshops and open sessions. Moreover, additional educational opportunities are offered to attendees through several informal interactions with the speakers throughout the five-day programme.
All students are expected to submit an abstract and may apply for a short oral communication and/or a poster presentation.
The poster communications are briefly presented by the authors during lively open sessions, in line with the main aim of the school to create a friendly environment and provide the opportunity to young scientists, post-docs and PhD students to meet leading scientists of high international repute in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.
We look forward to welcoming you in Naples in July 2015!
The meeting will be conducted in English.
